Sustainable Cements Containing Sugarcane Bagasse Ash and Limestone: Effects on Compressive Strength and Acid Attack of Mortar

Sustainable cements are an important alternative to reduce the environmental impact of cement industry by lowering clinker-to-cement ratio with supplementary cementitious materials. In this respect, present study aimed evaluate influence partial clinker replacement sugarcane bagasse ash (SCBA) and limestone filler (LF) on mechanical durability performance mortars. Four blended Portland were produced binary ternary mixes clinker, SCBA, LF. An ordinary was also for comparison purposes. All five characterized applied in mortars order assess compressive strength water absorption. Next, 28-day specimens immersed a sulfuric acid solution 56 days investigate deterioration using mass loss, length variation, absorption, tests. general, combination SCBA LF more sustainable suitable properties, as improved behavior, while context, 14% indicated uses, 7% recommended purposes, both maintained respective properties reference cement.
